12" dew shield

Having seen the price of ready made dew shields and how simple they look in contrast to their hefty price tag, can anyone point me in the right direction for materials to make one myself? I have no idea about material type (guessing neoprene), thickness, fastening methods etc.... So any help is appreciated.

I made a dew shield out of a foam sleeping mat I bought at a Mountain warehouse store. Something like this:

I should acknowledge the fact that I got the idea from a post on stargazers lounge ... Can't remember who but a search would find it, with photo I recall.

I use a black foam exercise mat from 99p Stores. I tried all manner of ways of holding it in on the 10" Newt, but most effective and secure was a simple 80cm long hook bungee cord.

You did better than me then. I spent six quid. Having said that I also made a little dew shield for the guider scope out of the same peice.

I fix mine to the scope with the length of Velcro tape that came with the sleeping mat to keep it wrapped up. I keep the open end secured with a small bull clip.
