Combining Lrgb in Photoshop Cs2

Recommended Posts

I don't combine colours in Ps but I do apply L to RGB there.

Stretch and process the RGB and the L. The processing priorities in RGB don't include sharpening. There is no need for that. I go for good colour saturation and low noise. I process the L for detail and contrast, taking it right up to the noise limit. Paste the L onto the RGB and choose blend mode luminosity.

At this point the colour may be washed out so you do the following process in several iterations, building up the amount of L applied each time. Reduce the L opacity to abut 30%, increase the saturation on the RGB layer and then put a slight Gaussian blur into the L and flatten. Repeat with more L. On the final application you aim for L at 100% and you don't apply the blur.
