solar obs/imaging

Hi all

I have ordered a sheet of baader solar filter to make some filters for camera lenses and telescope lenses, and hopefully binos too if i have enough.

One question

Do i mke one fore the full aperture of the scope (140 ish mm for the astromaster

Or

the large dust cap has a removable smaller opening in it with a dust cap, do i use this for solar?

I would go for the full aperture. The sweet spot for solar observing seems to be between 120 and 150mm aperture, so your 140mm should do nicely.
