EQ8 Losmandy saddle reconfiguration

Recommended Posts

I want to change the direction of the Losmandy saddle attached to my EQ8 so I can use it with a side by side arrangement.   Easy enough I thought, just loosen the three hex bolts securing it and move it through 90 degrees and retighten.

After removing the saddle I then noticed the tops of two metal pins poking through the saddle base (see photo via link below)

What do these pins do exactly and is it safe for me to remove them?

If you download and install the latest Motor control/Hand control firmware, you will have the option to turn the saddle 90 degrees.

No need to physically move the saddle.

Excellent, many thanks for the info.  I assume the new option to turn the saddle is made available through the menu system (Utility Functions?) somewhere.

After initialising the handset, you should get the question ....slew home yes/no, accept yes the mount will then find its encoders, and establish home position.

The next option is the one which allows you to set the Dec offset.

If you do not get the slew home option, at the beginning, power down and start again.

Bonjour,
thank you for these informations about Home position
because I got the same trouble, I arrive also at 90°from right position
effectivly synscan tell me Dec Offset and if I introduce 90° , all is good

But I have to do that every time
do you know if we can store this information ?
or is there another way (final one will be to turn physically the saddle)

merci

When powering up with the handset,  you always have to select whether to use the Dec offset or not.

So no point in physically moving the saddle.
