Help with Focal Reducers Please

Recommended Posts

Mark,

Reducers are normally used in slow scopes ie those that have a large focal ratio to reduce the focal length and hence increase the field of view. Yours is already quite a fast scope at f/5.

Please tell us what you plan to use reducers for.

Without serious modification I doubt you'd get one to work due to a lack of inwards focus travel, certainly not with a CCD or DSLR. You can use an Atik type with a webcam if you reverse the 1.25" eyepiece holder tube on the 'scope adapter, but only with a short nosepiece.
