Saturn from the 30th and 31st of March

I've only just got round to processing these.

Both with stacked x2 and x4 barlows and both about 600 of 1000 frames.

The one from the 31st is without an IR cut filter. I left it out to see if I could get a brighter image as I've been struggling to get enough light on the chip with the 2 barlows lately. Although during capture the image seemed a bit brighter, allowing me to lower the gain a bit, It hasn't made much difference to the result. I should really have imaged with and without the filter on the same night I suppose.

I'm not sure I can see any +ve difference the filter makes. I tend to put one in without thinking but now I'm having second thoughts about it, especially since it's quite dirty and I'm having a bit of a job cleaning it. Next time, I'm going commando!

Heheheh 'commando'. I think I prefer the pic from the 30th - both are ace.

More superb planetary images from the 130mm newt Tony 8) really good work.
