Baader LRGB & Narrowband will they work?

Hi all,

I am currently using a Canon 450D and I am wondering if I use the camera in mono mode will I be able to use the full set of Baader filters until I get a ccd camera?

Hi Pat, unless you remove the bayer colour filter array on top of the camera sensor, it won't be very effective. Setting a DSLR to mono simply desaturates the colour image. The light is still passing through the colour filters on the chip reducing the sensitivity and resolution.

Thanks Rik, guess ill go back to saving the cash for a couple of weeks getting the CCD camera and then a filter a week and is the a good reasonable priced CCD that anyone could recomend?
