  1. Thanks everyone for the kind words :-) looking forward for the weather to improve here and to try and make a lunar mosaic, and trying my hand at LRGB imaging and then onto some deep sky images. Pat
  2. Thanks Gary, I started off using just my DSLR and a static mount and took the plunge bought a telescope and EQ mount and learned some more moved on to the CCD camera a few weeks ago and sorting out the filter set for it now. I dont know if I can give you the site I bought the ZWO from but I will be speaking with the owner tomorrow I can ask if he will ship to you and let you know. Pat.
  3. Hi all, Well here are some of my first images of Saturn, I used my ZWO CCD with FireCapture, on the Skywatcher Quattro, using a 2x barlow and a UV/IR cut filter. Hopefully I will have the full LRGB set and I can start taking colour images by the end of next week. As ever any tips or criticism welcome. Thanks and enjoy, Pat.
  4. Hi all, was just wondering I'm trying to use my Baader Hyperion eyepieces with the ZWO CCD using the T-Adapter M43/T-2 but all I seem to get is a bright white circle in the center with no picture. Do I need an extension tube? Or is it because the CCD is not close enough? Thanks all in advance, Pat.
  5. Hey, Sorry I used Fire capture with my ZWO ASI120mm @ 10000 frames and used AS!2 to stack the AVI and used a little sharpening in Photoshop.

  7. Hi all, Second night out with the ZWO and here is the results, Enjoy and as usual any tips or criticism welcome :-) Pat.
  8. Hi all, Here is the first stacked AVI with my new ZWO ASI120. I only have a Baader UV/IR cut and Red filter at the moment so this was taken with just the UV/IR filter. The AVI was 10000 frames and I used pipp to crop down the AVI and AS!2 to stack the images. Hope you all like it and as always and tips or criticism welcome. Thanks again, Pat.
  9. Hi all, Just wondering does anyone have the Seymour Solar Glass filter and what are your thoughts on it? I had used Baader astro film and made a holder for it, but took it out today and there was a black mark near the centre of it. and doing a pre-check test I noticed that it was the protective finish after coming away So if anyone has any info on the Seymour glass filter I would love to get your thoughts on it. Thanks in advance, Pat
  10. Thanks Rik, guess ill go back to saving the cash for a couple of weeks getting the CCD camera and then a filter a week and is the a good reasonable priced CCD that anyone could recomend?
  11. Hi all, I am currently using a Canon 450D and I am wondering if I use the camera in mono mode will I be able to use the full set of Baader filters until I get a ccd camera? Thanks all, Pat.
  12. Was thinking that myself James didnt look too stable or secure and the secondary on the Quattro is oversized so would be fairly heavy. Think I will pass on this too good to be true option and I like the 4 diffraction spikes on stars Pat.
  13. I used a blackboard paint for my primary and secondary mirror focus tube and spider vane. Just got my flocking material so will be dabbing it on the screws and bolts just to finish it off this weekend. as soon as i get home I will get the name and post it here if you want Scarp?
  14. Hi all, I had ordered some flocking from Protosatr and they sent a booklet of other items they do, and one item stuck out at me and I was wondering does anyone know about it or have one, and more importantly how good would it be? It is a spider vane, but instead of having 4 or 3 arms it only has two that looks like a half circle. In the booklet it shows the 4 diffraction spikes on a 4 arm, 6 on the 3 arm and none on this circle one. I will admit I havent tried looking on line for any info yet but plan on doing so but said I would ask here first to see if anyone has one installed and find out how good or bad they are. Thanks in advance, Pat.
  15. Thats what I thought, TBH and that was the main plan of action. As a test the other night I called over to the parents house with it (as they live in a housing estate and would exagerate any stray light sources) and was shocked at how much of this was showing up.
