How to avoid direct bright street lights??

I have this problem also, living in a neighborhood. I talked to my neighbors and came to an agreement that when I want to observe, I can put a black garbage bag over the light, but must take it off before I go inside. I don't know what yours would say to that, but it works fairly well for me. Another option is to call the city and see if they can put a switch on the problematic light. You'll still have to have consent from your neighbors, but once finished, it's a lot easier than climbing all the way up and putting a trash bag up there!

That's just a fix for the light itself. Otherwise, you can probably purchase blinders (you know like horses wear) and tinker with them to fit you. Or maybe they sell them for people too! I don't know. I'm just a kid. [emoji16]

Good luck and clear skies [emoji4]

A couple of pictures with some of the shields up and ready for tonight :). Only put them up on two side as (1) this is where most of the light pollution comes from (Neighbours on the Port and Stern sides are pretty good) and (2) the moon will be up later so not much point in killing myself blocking out the light pollution from street lights / neighbours . Hope the clouds stay away tonight as promised.

Nice! Can you give me some info on that tripod there? Was it hand made? I really like the look..

What kind of mount is that? it looks nice :)

The mount is a CEM60.  I like it alot as it is reasonable easy to shift about and can cope with all of my scope with ease.

NB.  kinley17, as John said, the tripod is a Berlebach Planet.  Absolutely rock solid, but drives the wife mad as it leaves big holes in the lawn because of the spikes :D.
