How can I tell if my camera has been modified?

Bought a 1100d from ebay for £75 from a shop which had it as a trade in, has some minor damage to the plastic near optical view finder, a few screws missing from the case and the auto focus apparently doesn't work. However I'm assured it has been tested and works correctly via manual focus etc

It sounds like someone like me has had a go at modding it

So without taking it apart or taking a test photo (haven't got any lenses) is there a way of checking if it has been modified already? Can I aim the camera at a white light and see if it comes out pinkish?

My Astro Modded 600D shows a pinkish colour in daylight if i don't alter the RGB sliders, check there set at zero first....might work....

Set the white balance to daylight mode and take a picture in daylight.  If the image looks really pink then that would be consistent with a modded camera.
