AZ EQ6 - what are these numbers used for around the polar scope

I'm eventually getting to grips with my new mount but I can't find any mention in the instructions what I use these numbers for.

They are printed onto a thin aluminium disc can be rotated and there is a fixed datum marker at the 6 o'clock position. The numbers go from 0 - 12 and have finer graduations with E and W markings at the 12 to 1 position.

Any help would be gratefully received.

Steve,

Many thanks for the link and I'll read it more thoroughly later.

As you will be aware the controller calculates a time at where Polaris appears on the circle around the NCP clock.

I have been putting Polaris in the small circle after setting the circle at the right time given above.

Is this correct or do I also need to use the instruction on the link to get better alignment
