RA setting circle on HEQ5

Recommended Posts

Hello,

Just unpacking a Skywatcher HEQ5, which is my first ever mount. Just doing some initial checks to see everything is ok. Looking at the RA setting circle, or rather the smaller of the two rings, it seems to me very flimsy and I can just rotate it round, wobble it about. Is this unusual or anything to worry about ?

Thanks

Alistair

Its how it is - they have to be loose - you can tighten it up if its too loose by unscrewing the polarscope from its fitting and tightening a ring behind the polar setting circle on some of these but my advise would be to leave well alone.  It doesnt have to be tight - its designed to float.  YOu will understand why later on so best to leave alone for now.
