Tripod/mount threads?

Can anyone tell me what thread is used for the central bolt that connects tripod to mount on a Syntra EQ2? Is it imperial 3/8 or metric 10mm? Furthermore, do all modern telescopes use the one system or is there a mixture of both used depending perhaps on who's the manufacturer? I've always 'assumed' photograpic gear used imperial, but I'm even less sure with astronomy.

If noone else KNOWS the specifics!

There seems to be a "Vixen/Synta standard" that e.g. connects my (UK bought) EQ3-2 (sic) head to it's tripod - Fairly certainly (i.e. 99%) M10 - E.g. checks out with DIY store bolts! This allows my GIRO III head (also described as M10) to use the latter's tripod.

But I often share your slight confusion/doubts.

My EQ3-2 also uses a M10. I am 99% certain of this because I can connect the WO EZTouch head to the EQ3-2 base, and this is advertised as being M10.
