Exoplanets and DSLR

Hello,

I am surprised no one has posted this yet.

How to prove exoplants exist.

http://spectrum.ieee.org/geek-life/hands-on/diy-exoplanet-detector

The article is mostly about building a barn door and one one tiny reference to how to verify the exoplanet by using Microsoft Excel to make differential-photometry calculations.

Would love to see that spread sheet to see the calculations behind it all.

Watched this the other night and thought the same. I saw it and thought grate this will explain it all! But was a bit disappointed in the lack of info about how to actually measure the transit of the planet on the desired star.

I've got a tracking mount so don't need to build a barn door.

Like the idea of just using a camera lens to gather data to measure a transit. But there wasn't enough info :(
