C10 bathed in moonlight

This is my first attempt at guiding. Using an ST80 (thanks trudie!) and a Meade Deep Sky Imager Pro v1 found at the back of a dusty cupboard at my local astro society. All running on a 1st generation MacBook Pro. I went for 5 minute subs on a moony night and used 15 of them in this image. I took darks/bias and some flats.

My question is about the flats, in that I had to experiment in the exposure and brightness/contrast of them in PS to prevent DSS over-flatting my image and turning the dark dust bunnies into light dust bunnies. Seems getting the perfect flat is an art not a science, unless there is an easier way to align the flat to the light that I am unaware of?
