asset189
Set the scene, 2000 miles further south than home, looking out my hotel window across the sea to differentiate, stunning views. Now it's night fall and I get my first sight ever of Scorpius almost directly above the islands dim lights. The milky way seems to grow out of the centre of certainties, carving up into the night sky overhead, beautiful, clear & bright.Scorpius is big and well defined with mars currently taking up a position at the head , well worth the trip alone. I've never really seen the teapot asterisk in Sagittarius it's so obvious in the night sky down here as are its clusters. Outstanding.
michael.h.f.wilkinson
Scorpius from a dark site further south is a stunner, isn't it?
asset189
Yep Michael it sure is, so is the milky way. I packed a pair of lidl 10x50 bins figuring it would not matter if they got bashed about. They survived the trip but are not so great to be honest . I've been trying to prise the diopter off to give myself a little more adjustment but it will have to Waite till I get home. Still clear skies tonight again lots still to see with naked eye
