Getting my guide scope & camera to focus

I've just bought an APM 50mm guidescope to use with my Meade DSI for guiding. Last night I got a chance to try it out but was unable to bring it to focus at all.

It has a t thread to allow direct connection so I tried that, nothing. I then tried it as I had done with my zs66 & used the extension tube from a barlow lens but nothing I even tried putting the barlow lense on but it made no difference. Finally, I repeated the process with a QHY5V which is a friends & still got nothing.

It seems to be way out as at no point am I seeing even the most diffuse light.

Has anyone else had this problem & can advise please?
