Stars from my balcony Crete

Just got back from a great holiday in Bali, Crete. The skies there were amazing and so clear every night.

I managed one night where I went out with my camera and took a few snaps.

Not an amazing pic but visually the sky was stunning.
 

One night we walked to a more remote Taverna, where the owner was a really nice UK expat, She turned all the lights off and the Milkyway just glowed, and I ended up giving a little guide around the sky, I felt a little embarrassed but it was fun.
Got my first view this side of summer of Taurus, M45 and later that night Orion.

I loved Crete, can't wait to go back there if the chance ever arises. The sky was stunning come night.

Good.

My first view of a proper starry sky was from a Greek island hopping student holiday in 1972. I went to sleep on a dock on Ios waiting for a late ferry and when I woke up and opened my eyes I was simply mind blown. I had no idea the sky could look like that.

A great result.  It's a bit scary that the Winter constellations are already becoming visible

Yes, indeed, the winter is just over the corner and we do not realise that until the stars tell this to us.
