Missing star?

I was looking at NGC 3172 on the 31st July 2014. It is very faint but was just possible with averted vision in my 14 inch dob.

As normal I compare what I saw to Carte Du Ciel..

This time I noted two mag 13 stars not on CDC?

I have checked a photo and they are on the DSS photo as marked.

the photo and stars do not quite overlap but hopefully you can see the stars on the photo are not matched by a grey blob from the chart?

This is the first time I have spotted such bright stars not on the chart...

Has anyone else had this experience? In a way its exciting to find things that are not on the charts! :laugh:
