Astrophotography advice

Cost is one issue, but also the ability to achieve the potental result of the equipment regardless of cost, a cheap semi- apo like a zs71 is still going to work far better for someone learinng than getting a newt coma corrector and getting it all to work, in practicality only for a few hundred in price once you take colimation tools in account etc, it has to be said that if a person wants to image and quible over a few hundred they need to be very sure the gear they are buying will be exactly what the need to do the job and all work as is, as i have found that is not often the case at all.

Dont forget if your adding a sheet of glass it has to be optical quality and collimatable as to not effect the light path and it needs to be parallel to the light path. I personally think you will find it a waste of time and wont get the results your wishing for to be honest, but it does sound like a fun DIY project.
