May 16, 2014: Solar lunchtime again

Had a look at the sun at 13:00 and found a fairly quiet sun. The "Chinese character prom" I spotted late yesterday afternoon in the north east was still there, some smaller proms were further south. A big filament on the disk could be seen west of the "Chinese character" and the forest of proms/loops deep down south I spotted yesterday was still going strong. Some of the active ARs that have been gracing the disk this last week or two are now bowing out, so the disk looked rather quiet by comparison. All effects of the flare reported this morning seem to have dissipated.

Oh, well, still nice to actually see the sun.

The sun is threatening to break out here Michael so hopefully I will get some solar time this afternoon

That description sounds pretty similar to what I saw this lunchtime. Must be a coincidence.

Had a look at 17:30 local time. Quite few extra proms on the eastern limb. and something seems to be growing on the western limb
