Synscan screen

I dropped my Synscan handset onto the concrete floor of the garage and fractured it in a couple of places; does anyone know if these are replaceable, or have I got to put up with it?

Any help or advice gratefully received.

you can buy a replacement handset but they are not cheap

can't you glue or tape it up, as long as you can read the screen and the buttons work

Same as Oldpink - you can buy a replacement but they are fairly costly.

Could look at the used market, may take a while for one to appear but they are not common, mainly because people drop them and they get broke. :grin:

The other poor aspect is people update the software and it goes wrong, then you again have a useless box of electronics.

I have 2 Meade goto's and 4 handsets.

When they appeared on the market for sale I grabbed them quick.

Not sure if you need the handset to run the scope from something like a lap top or notebook, think you do.

Is there software etc to run from a smartphone ?

Half think I read of some.

Think it was software and Wifi adaptor, could actually be cheaper if there is.

Get a cheap smartphone and the software+dongle.

doubt you can do it from a mobile phone as you need the ASCOM drivers
though there is a wifi dongle available for some mounts to run from a PC

synscan handsets appear on ebay time to time so keep looking and you can find one used there.Still expect to pay up to 100 quid for one.
