I have ordered a Mesu mount and my current top plate is 25cm diameter with 3 16mm holes around the outside to accommodate the 3 l 16mm steel bars.

The mesu base is 20mm diameter and will therefore not fit on my top plate due to the nuts on the top of the 3 pieces of steel bar getting in the way.

I have seen images of peoples top plate with the steel bar welded in some way to the bottom of the top plate without protruding the top surface.

How is this done?
