Help mounting a laser pointer

Recommended Posts

Hey SLG!

So for some time now I have been looking for some way to attach a laser pointer mount to my telescopes standard mounting screw, but I cant seem to find any that work. If any one knows a way to make this happen please let me know.

I have attached an example of what I am trying to do.

Hi Beyond Earth, the mounting you are pointing to is a camera mounting accessory.  If the telescope does not already have one, you need a 'mounting shoe' which are sold separately here in the UK, not sure where in the US they sell them though, here is an example from a UK shop (the forum sponsors):  http://www.firstlightoptics.com/finders/finder-mounting-shoe.html

you could also consider this,

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Astro-Engineering-AC666-Laser-Mate-universal-laser-pointer-telescope-mounting-/221383359871?pt=UK_Photography_Telescopes&hash=item338b79fd7f

It attaches like a telrad with sticky pads, I have one and it works just fine for me on my ST102.
