March 23, 2014: Some good proms visible

Recommended Posts

Brought the LS35 along to a friend's place, and spotted some nice proms. The western limb is showing a lot of activity. Several filaments can be seen near the limb and crossing it, giving a lovely 3D feel to the image. Lower down an almost tree-shaped prom can be seen, with lots of intricate structure. Low on the eastern limb, a few more proms can be seen, one with a detached mass of plasma to its south-east. Another detached prom is visible further north, although there is a hint of a thin thread linking it to the surface. A couple of nice ARs show up on the disk. Well worth a look.
