HEQ5 hand contoller cable

Hi,my HEQ5 Synscan rj45 hand controller cable is slightly broken, it still works but I have to fix it to the mount with tape and it keeps cutting out. Can I safely replace it with a Cat 6 computer crossover cable-2 meters-which has rj45 connections on both ends like the HEQ5 cable? There is a little 'box' thing at the top of the HEQ5 cable which I think is to protect against interference? It clips off, can I just clip it on to the new cable?

Thanks in advance for any advice, I know very little about electronics, although I have done some simple soldering.

not sure if its a standard or crossover cable but you can use a cat 5 or 6 cable
the suppressor should be easy enough to swap over

You need the Cat5 Patch lead ... NOT the Crossover.

Agree and that's what I used when mine broke which is now fixed just crimped a new end on.
