Recommended Posts

Does anybody know of or use any software similar to backyard EOS that is compatible with Nikon? I found one called tether pro but I don't know if thats any use or not.

Thanks :)

HI Steve,

You can download this from here, but I do not use it ( I use Canons ) and you do it at your own risk but it is free.

here one http://digicamcontrol.com/supported_cameras

and another

http://www.controlmynikon.com/

not really tried them so cant say how they work

I also recommend digiCamControl, it is developed by photo enthusiasts interested in AP. So far I didn't have a chance to check automatic capture with bulb setting, but other stuff (timelapse, in-program focusing for lenses, intervalometer) is presented clearly and easy to use.

Another one (freeware again) is dCamCapture, though I used it only for assisted focusing.

One other option is to use your phone - I see you have an HTC One; there are several tethering apps for Android - dSLRDashboard and HeliconRemote are two that I've dabbled with for macro photography - I might reinstall them and see how much use they are for astro work (They're probably very useful, to be honest, given the position of the camera on the side/top of the scope!)
