A web cam attempt

This is an old Atik 1C II colour camera which is basically a modified toucam with long exposure capability and air cooling. It was a test to see how my Meade 127 refractor would perform on the Moon.

I'm quite encouraged by the result so have an upgrade to this camera on the way.

Very encouraging! I love the colour too. Well done. It's surprising how much detail you can get with a 5 inch-ish refractor. How do you find the frac compared to your LX200 so far?

I do like refractors ,a friend said I'd miss the LX and I'm sure there will be times when he's right, but there is something about the clarity of the view with very tight stars that I love. The LX can get a bit wooly at high mag and I'm getting keen on astrophotography so at the moment I'm very happy with the refractor and the flexibility of the EQ mount. The LX should be going this weekend.
