Calander question

I don't know if this is the right place to ask this, sorry if it is.

I've been looking at the calander and I was wondering what UT means behind the times.

Universal time.   New name for the old fangled Greenwich Mean time...

I didn't know this and had to check up - didn't realise that GMT had been superceded by UT....

Yes UT has been about for quite some time. It's been used in computers for years where you can either pickup the local time (the one set by the user in their country / time zone) or UT.

It is there as a basis of time so that where ever you are in the world to cut down on confusion of displayed times.
