I got all excited about maybe I could get some DSO with my Mak once I get my DSLR then realised I still need an EQ Mount... curse having to save up for it as well!

You CAN get DSO's with a Mak and an Alt/Az and a DSLR. Mainly it's not easy because your mount won't be stable enough and won't track very well. I'm not sure about guiding an A/A mount - but I thought I saw a topic here a little while back.

For DSO's think - bright objects - you should be able to get M57 for example...

Well I know I will give it a go when I finally get a DSLR.. the wife says I need to wait for Christmas but I don't think that one is going to wash... this hobby is slowly burning a hole in my pockets :-p

A used Canon 450D body is 150£ or a bit more. Not too bad - but you'd still need a coma corrector!!
