Brand new solar filter

Hello CJ

My advice re solar observing. You don't mention the type of filter - glass or baader film? Even though its new always check the filter each time you use it for pin holes etc. Remove the finderscope or RDF but don't look down the tube of the Mak to line up the scope with the Sun. I use one of these which makes life easier - http://www.optcorp.com/tele-vue-sol-searcher-sun-finder.html - however, you could make one yourself.

Use your 25mm EP and look for the shadow of your scope to line up the Sun.

Once the Sun is in the FOV you will get some great views of Sunspots - currently there are some nice sunspot group to view - but take care.
