Old Gleanings for ATM article from the '70's.

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Does anyone remember an old Gleanings for ATM article from Sky and Telescope in the '70's that featured a collapsible Schmidt Cassegrain?  I believe it was built by a US Navy officer who traveled a lot.  It had no tube.  It was ingenious. Any info that anyone has would be appreciated.

Thanks, Tony

Actually I have been able to track down some information.  It was in the July 1973 issue, and built by a Capt. Ronald P. Walker USAF.  I can't find any reproductions of the article itself.  The title of the article was A Large Knockdown Portable telescope.  I believe it was at least 10".  He built it out of hardware store supplies; he had even built a case for it.
