First light with my new XT8 Dob.

Well what can I say that hasn't been said already, WOW  

What a difference from my Sky-Watcher 705, Moon looks as though you could just reach out and touch it ( you weren't kidding when you said wear sunglasses, my eyes aren't right yet). Could clearly see the bands on Jupiter plus all four moons and could make out a faint green tinge in the Orion Nebula. Just got to get used to how the dob moves and also the image being upside down. In now for a cup of coffee and a quick look at Turn Left At Orion

On a side note, can you actually see where the moon landings took place or is that just a stupid question lol.

Of course you can see the landing sites, but don't expect to see the footprints.......

Cheers for that Oddsocks, it was just that someone said to me that the landing sites were on the dark side, but there you go, you learn something new everyday

The is no dark side as such, just the side we can't see.

If you want learn more about the lunar landing sites you can use google earth, in the top tool bar click on view>explore>moon.

You can zoom in on the landing sites and view panoramic photos taken on the surface overlaid like street view, and there are links to youtube videos etc.

It's pretty good and well worth a look.
