  1. Hi folks, I have had an offer of a Nexstar 130 slt but the seller has said the hand set lights up and the mount will move a bit but then stops. He thinks it may be just a broken wire, he is not telescope savy and lives quite a bit away from me so before I commit myself to go and see it, do you think it could be just a broken wire or is the symptoms the warning of far bigger problems? He is looking for £100 for the scope.
  2. I have used this in the past seemed to work ok for me http://www.dvdvideosoft.com/products/dvd/Free-AVI-Video-Converter.htm#.VQHixZVybIU but there may be better ones.
  3. Doh!! Just realised what Sky Quest is . Will give it a go to see what happens.
  4. Thanks for the replies. Can I ask what is "The Sky Quest"?
  5. My 1st attempt at the moon taken through a sky-watcher mercury 705 with a 2x barlow. Camera - Nikon D3100, shutter speed 1/1250, iso 800. Just can't seem to get focus just right but I shall persevere Photo taken on Sat. 31st January 2015.
  6. Cheers. At the moment I am just using the camera with a tripod (no tracking) completely new to this and is all trial and error at the moment, mostly error I may add ;o). 1st photo taken And reason for LP.
  7. Thanks for that. Now if I get the 52-48mm step down what size of LP filter do I get? In the link you provided there is two, 2" = 50.8mm and the 1.25" = 31.75mm can't see one for 48mm. Cheers.
  8. Hi thanks for the reply, have looked at the front focus ring but no sign of what you described, however I have found something on the side of the lens it has a circle with back slash and number 52. Would that be the filter size?
  9. That I don't know, how do you find out? I have a Nikon D3100 with the 18 - 55mm lens. Can anyone tell me how I find out what size filter I need?
  10. Going to be just using it with the lens for the time being.
  11. Hi folks, can anyone recommend a decent light pollution filter to connect to a Nikon D3100 DSLR. Thanks.
  12. Here are tonight's efforts This is meant to be the milky way, don't know if I managed to get the Andromeda Galaxy in there as well. Is this comet Lovejoy? All a bit trial and error just now ;o)
  13. Looks like we are going to have clear skies again tonight so will give it another go When you say stack what exactly do you mean? Do I take a few photos of the same bit of sky and then use "deep sky stacker" to stack them on top of one and other, is that how it works? Sorry for all the questions but I am a complete newbie to all this and do appreciate all the advice you are giving.
