Skywatcher Synscan 102 Mak - Should I replace the Diagonal ?

Recommended Posts

Just playing about with my new toy, a Skywatcher Synscan 102 Mak.

I've already put the Modified Achromat eyepieces supplied to one side in favour of Plossls.

Does anyone know what the quality of the 90degree Diagonal is on these scopes, is it a good idea to replace it with something of better quality ?

Cheers !

I think the best thing is to get out there and get some viewing time in, things can always be improved, a dielectric diagonal will, for example improve on the standard one supplied, but they are not cheap, the William Optics one supplied by FLO is a good one.  You should also consider whether your scope takes a 2" diagonal as this will be better than the 1.25" - gives you more ep choices later.
