We have started the quest to find the Lunar 100

After reading the thread regarding the lunar 100 I thought it would be a great challenge for little legs and a great way for her to get know the moon, so we had a clear night the other night for about an hour and a halve to go and start ticking off the list (Highland Astro Society list that is).

It was great fun and livi really enjoyed it, upto now we have have been looking at Jupiter and some DSO's but for the first time she is seeing the moon in great detail.

So here are the bits we ticked off..

No.85 Langrenus
No.10 Mare Crisium
No.16 Petavius
No.87 Humboldt
No.73 Smythii Basin
No.100 Mare Marginis Swirls
No.70 Humboldtianum Basin

The night sky has been teasing us, just when we think we can get out, a load of cloud comes rolling in behind it! we will get there and at least while we are indoors we have now started to make the solar filter.

Good going. I started to find the moon a lot more interesting once I started to track down the Lunar 100. Great way to really study the surface properly.
