Micrometeorite Trap

Quite a challange it seems. But still interesting. I recall reading about some other type micrometeor trap a while back. Didn't involve rainwater at all, just some container with a sheet of paper and some magnets. Can't find the link now though.

It does'nt say you cannot get them in rain water, they are just mixed with billions of other terrestrial particles.

Well, it does say "A prevalent misconception about micrometeorites is that they can be collected from rain water."  That's pretty unequivocal as regards the viability of a micrometeorite trap that attempts to sift them from rainwater.

I'd agree though that he doesn't justify the assertion very well.  That there may be billions of terrestrial particles doesn't make it impossible, nor does it mean the terrestrial particles are magnetic or can't be otherwise significantly reduced in number by other means.  It's a shame he didn't go into more detail.
