Managed at last to get some clear sky. 0100 managed to get a look at Jupiter three moons in view apart from callisto. To the left europa and ganymede with lo to the right. Looking through a 10mm eyepiece what piece next for better views?? Had just managed to get some kind of glimpse at mars before cloud rolled in. Think it was mars low to the east!! 30 min of magic no meteors though but carnt win em all. Happy new year to all

craigdsmith.........If the seeing conditions were ok, telescope collimated,  and you have a good image through the 10mm EP, then another EP is generally not going to give a better view, just more magnified if you get a lower focal length or less magnified if you take a higher focal length. You could make the image brighter, or have a wider field of view by choosing another brand of eyepiece that offers a greater AFOV. Ultimately, its your telescope that will set the limits of what you see. A larger aperture would offer higher resolution but more importantly, the larger aperture, the brighter the image at any power. You will see "better" with a brighter image and greater resolution, from a larger aperture.  The 114 just might not cut the mustard for you?
