I might have to miss the opposition of Jupiter

I was kind of looking forward to Jan 5 as the sky was supposed to be clear.

Well it still is I guess. Way too clear! Highs here on Sunday are supposed to be only -14 with lows Sunday night of -29 and a windchill of -61F!

I don't mind going out in the cold but that is just crazy talk!

Its a win win situation, if its cloudy you get to stay in the warm without feeling guilty.

If its clear you could get some good observing done.

Just make sure to wrap up warm and abandon ship if you do start to suffer from the cold.

Well I managed to get out for about an hour and a half. I was bundled up sufficiently but the scope not so much. Frost on the mirrors forced me in. Not sure what the exact time for opposition was but I was out and managed to get some great views in before the scope (and my beard) froze up.
