Advice on a tracking mount

Recommended Posts

Can anyone recommend a tracking mount with a tripod for a solar scope ?

The scope will be a Lunt 60mm, It weighs 3.9 KG and has a 500mm focal length.

I don't think I will need a GoTo on this occasion as I believe even I will be able to find the sun

Alt azimuth might be preferable. No counterweights, no polar aligning. (Tricky in the daytime!)  Less bulk, faster setup, and it will still do fine for imaging with a fast frame camera. I have a number of EQ mounts not doing much so I use those, but if buying something just for solar it would be an alt az like the iOptron mini tower etc.

Thank you Ollie & Christopher

I have seen a Skywatcher " Merlin" Table top & on a tripod.  The table top is a GoTo & the tripod version is just a tracker. My only fear is the vibrations with a single fork arm.

Have you tried either of these ?
