My newest EP arrived today. An Orion 38mm Q70.

My first impression was just jaw dropping at how big it is!!

I new that I could expect a bigger, heftier EP as it is a 2" but I had no idea it would be bigger than a beer can.

Anxious to give it a trial run but the next clear sky forecast is for New Years eve. Will let you know then I hope!

Ive been told that this EP might be pushing the limit of an f/5 scope but I'm looking forward to giving it a whirl in the new dob.

A 2" eyepiece never sounds a great deal bigger then a 1.25", until you unwrap one, then they sort of hit you.

Oh it hit me alright! 

I'm afraid to drop it. Not that it might damage it but that it could land on my foot and break a toe.

Let us know what you think of the Q70, I've been thinking about one myself- on sale at Orion for around $90.00. Damn, I didn't realize they were so huge but hey if they work!
