Meteor shower

I was out with my scope last night, I had been getting some great views of Jupiter, when I decided to shift my focus and have a look around cassiopeia. This was around 1130pm, when a spotted a steady meteor shower ranging across from polaris to Uranus. This is the first ever meteor shower I have ever witnessed it was awesome!! Did anyone else see it?

You were looking at the Geminid meteor shower. They were very impressive. I saw over 40.

Thank you starman1969 it's good to know what I was looking at!! That picture is quite something considering how damn fast the move! I managed to see one through the scope as I was looking at Uranus one came straight across it! Beautiful!

I bet that made you jump. I think it would have spooked me if I saw something like that shooting through the field of view. Even satellites crossing the view through a scope look like really fast meteors due to the magnification.

It was a bit freaky at first... Thought maybe the aliens had finally come to take me away!! once I realised what was going on, it was a beautiful sight!

I've seen meteors and satellites through bins and that is usually a bit unsettling.  I always wonder what it was I saw but later on I realize it was either one of those listed.

Still makes for an interesting moment.  Kind of spices up the moment.

I've seen a few but not unfortunately through the scope...That must have been great. (Just having a sly fag at the back door, to be honest)

It's was brilliant a real treat! Just waiting for the next clear sky, fed up with the cloud and rain... The weather has no regard for us hobbyists! A sly fag every now again has got to be done... Although my smoking habits are not 'sly' or 'every now and again'...
