DivX Problem

I have a problem! I went out tonight and tried capturing Jupiter with my SPC900 webcam using WXAstrocapture. Unfortunately when I came in from the cold to look over and process my videos, NOTHING!

There was no image at all even though the video seemed to be playing???

The only difference I can see from previous videos, it that the AVI it titled 'Object' and not 'Capture' like all my other DivX Videos.

What's gone wrong????

Sorry to hear of your problems Yidoboy. I don't use the sw so can't advise. Have you tried tthe freeware SharpCap? it's what most people use and is very good.

http://www.sharpcap.co.uk/

I hope someone can help you soon.

I have that software but find the picture quality at the time of videoing to be much better on wXAstrocapture if I'm honest - unfortunately that quality doesn't continue through to processing!!!!!

I'm wondering if I'm just missing a codec, but not sure how to find out????

I can't advise on your specific astro software but have found that if there is a problem with the avi file a good test is to attempt to play it with Virtualdub  http://www.virtualdub.org/

On the subject of audio/video codecs dowloading and installing the K-lite codecs will ensure your system has all the codecs you are likely to need. http://codecguide.com/download_kl.htm

Once you have the codecs on your system you should have the option to choose the open source Xvid codec which for general avi compression seems to be widely used these days and gives comparable quality to Divx at similar bit rates
