Free software for splitting images into RGB components

Pretty much as title says really. Just wondered if anyone knows any free software for splitting OSC images into their RGB components pref in FITs files? I know Nebulosity does it but dont intend to use it for anything but splitting images so not really keen on shelling out for it.

FITs liberator to convert the FIT to a TIFF then Paint.NET I think will split it for you (manual task, not auto.)

Maybe IRIS but I don't know for sure

Fitswork is free.  It can split the image into RGB, and it does much much more.
