Observatory security recommendations

hi all,

can anyone surgest a reasonably priced security device for protection of our beloved observatories ?

have been looking on google and flea bay but to be honest all i can find is something suitable for either home use and expensive or a simple shed alarm, was going down the simple shed alarm route, the one i found had remote fobs for remote turn on and off, 105 decibel siren but then looked at the reviews and of course some said great and others said rubbish so still unsure.

don`t want to spend a furtune but was wondering what other people have bought.

You can buy 10 Watt LEDs for a couple of quid. They run off 12 Volts and are extremely bright and quite small (you'll have to mount them on a metal plate or they'll get too hot). Hook 'em up to a motion detector and you will illuminate the whole area, make your neighbours think the sun's come up and dazzle anyone who looks at them.

Of course, as with any alarm worthy of the name, you have to ensure that they aren't triggered by every passing cat or fox, or innocent passer-by, otherwise they'll just be an annoyance.
