Last look at Ison ?

Recommended Posts

That ain't bad  considering it's a bedroom window job.

The tail is showing at least. you got an image of it, which is more than I have,

and a lot more people too.

Hopefully you will get a better opportunity.

 to image it.

Ron.

Last Tuesday morning (19th) at 05.00, three of my club met at a location in SE Essex with a good horizon.   Ison was quickly found in bins and my 70mm refractor, about 3 degrees SE of Spica.  All I could see visually was the bright nucleus, but one of the club imaged an approx 2 degree tail.   A bit disappointing, but if it breaks up and disappears as it rounds the Sun, at least we did see it.

In comparison, comet Lovejoy was far nicer.  Best view of that was lying on our backs on an exercise mat, using 80mm binos.

Mercury was very easy to see naked eye.

Lets hope the media hype comes true.........Regards, Ed.
