Comet 2013/R1 Lovejoy on 19th November

Recommended Posts

Viewing conditions, at least where I live in Kent, England, were not at all good this morning. Bright moon, and a good deal of haze. But I did finally manage to get my first binocular view of comet ISON, barely visible in the haze at 06.10

Earlier, at around 01.40 I also got my first view of comet Lovejoy. Very easily visible despite the limiting magnitude being around 7 due to the moonlight and haze.

I wish the ephemerides used on Stellarium ( a great piece of software ) would finally be updated so as to show the true magnitude, as 'magnitude 8' displayed is way off and I'd estimate closer to magnitude 5.
