dark star
I took this by mistake, I as looking for either ngc7023 the Iris Nebula or the Bubble Nebula! This needs a few hours of data I think, I only got around 30 minutes. 300 seconds and 600 seconds exposures, modified canon 450d, Astronomik CLS clip filter, Baader MPPC coma corrector, Oron UK 250mm f4.8 reflector. Finder guider and DMK41 camera for guiding with PHD . Photos taken using APT. Stacked in DSS and processed in Photoshop. It took me ages to get my polar alignment more or less right nd to get guiding working sort of OK, and then the clouds came in! Any advice gratefully received. I thought it was the Cocoon Nebula at first!David https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/82184859/cocoon52psp.tifhttps://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/82184859/cocoon52psp.tifDavid

davew
One of the most interesting star forming regions in the Northern sky.If you want to go back to it then I suggest you centre it and give it loads of subs.Very nice effort,Dave.
dark star
Actually, I had such problems finding a guide star with my guider which is just an old 50mm binocular objective I didn't dare recenter it in case I couldn't find a guide star again.. I think I need a better guide scope! David
Astrosurf
Good shot! As has been said, have another go. It looks as if you've stacked some subs with a bit of movement so the stars aren't round. I use FastStone image viewer to easily go through all of my subs and delete ones that are rubbish before I stack.Good luck!Alexxx
