Loose Polar Scope

Hello!

I have an Astro-5 mount, which I am told is essentially a German manufactured version of the EQ5 and CG5.

My polar scope is loose in the housing, I can move it up and down, left and right about 5mm.  Which in angular terms when trying to polar align, is quite a few degrees of play.

I tried unscrewing it to see how it fits, but nothing happens, it does not seem to screw out.  Perhaps I am turning the focusing mechanism by mistake.

I also tried screwing it in, in an attempt to tighten it.  Same thing. Perhaps the design is different from the skywatcher and celestron models, I don't know.

Any advice?

At the moment I'm drift aligning which takes me quite a long time.
