Autoguiding on a shoestring.

So, I got a shoestring autoguider a couple of days ago and now I've got to sort out the imaging side. As I'm getting tight on finances what is the opinion of this for the scope. It's solely for autoguiding but i could do with a cheapo tripod for star trails as well.

The other problem I have is that my Vixen GP mount is rated at 7kg load but my main scope is already just over 9kg. It's driven by a synscan for eq5 upgrade. Is this weight rating overcautious as I've had absolutely no problems tracking so far.
